Puttin' On The Ritz A Great Social Event

The first Ritz raised less than $7,000. Since that time more than $200,000 has been raised to support many needs. The Ritz has become "the event" in Aurora each year. This event brings club members together with generous businesses to make a real difference in the Aurora community in a true spirit of Service Above Self.

More than 250 people, from throughout the Aurora/Denver Metro area, attend  this "black tie optional" event. Many are "regulars" to the Ritz, including the Mayor of Aurora and various city council members. Approximately 200 items are displayed for bidding. Those attending were entertained by music and dancing. There is an excellent dinner and by 10pm successful bidders are identified and are being assisted by members of Smoky Hill in obtaining their items from the display tables.

The Smoky Hill Rotary Club supports many organizations with funds from this event. Ritz proceeds help finance the Smoky Hill Foundation Special Things For Special Kids initiative. For nearly 20 years, Smoky Hill members have supported organizations such as the Aurora Police Department D.A.R.E. Program, Gateway Battered Women's Shelter, Girls Club, Boy Scout Troop 641, Excelsior Youth Center, Comitis Center and others through funds raise at "The Ritz."

Whether it's a middle school special education child who needs a new pair of glasses, or a basket of food for women and children in a shelter, the men and women of Smoky Hill Rotary are providing "Service Above Self" as they devote hundreds of hours in preparing for the Ritz, and hosting those attending the night of the Ritz.

Be it in a pair of jeans or a tuxedo the members of Smoky Hill Rotary Club are "hands-on" when it comes to helping their community. They prove it year after year with Puttin' On The Ritz! Congratulations!!!
